Leaders and their teams drive success

In March when we set out to create what was then called Virtubox and has now become Virtuworx, all I really knew was that the idea and brain child of our CTO Wayne Strydom was an amazing one, but how does an amazing idea become a reality? As the severity of the COVID situation started to become apparent, there was a feeling among the entire group that this product could not only answer some very important long term issues faced by business and employees, namely Time Saving, Cost Reduction, and Carbon Footprint reduction, but that this product could help and assist in the now, during the very difficult times faced by all of us around the world due to the pandemic.

It was obvious that we needed a team… a large team! Over the past few months, our new dev team have worked tirelessly, long hours, minimal time off, with weekends becoming few and far between, but have done it with a passion, a smile and exuberance that has been extremely impressive. This team, that is spread across the planet, came together with one aim, to build a world leading avatar platform and environment and have succeeded. Post COVID we may all have a beer together in the real world, but until then it only seems right to list the amazing team and thank them publicly for their work and support: WIlliam Jackson, Vivian Naidoo, Scott Hill, Brad Rogers, Justas Mignois, Peter Jenkinson, Luke Rapkin, Zander van Tonder, Akshay Goel, Pankaj Malik, Peter Talaat, Alexandru Vlad, Ben Windley, Bradlee Gopaul, Sebastian Carroll. The inception, development and ultimately the roll out of this platform has been managed and directed tirelessly by Wayne Strydom, I am in awe of his achievements and can guarantee there is more to come from him soon!

Of course, after the creation of such an amazing platform, to then not put an A-team together to sell it would be an incredible waste. Enter Tamlynne Wilton-Gurney, who within a week of seeing the platform had made her first sale which in itself is impressive, but the breadth and depth of her knowledge in the industry and the connections and experience she possesses in addition to her bigger picture thinking and strategic planning is the best I have seen. Tam wasn’t alone, and assisted by her incredible and motivational team they continue to show and spread the word (ALREADY) of our amazing Virtuworx:

Mary Masombuka, Marisa Oosthuizen, Minenhle Khoza, Kgothatso Mahlaku, Gunther Muller, Lesley Tshabalala , TK March , Ayanda Mbekembeke , Jay-C Botha , Adelaide Matlou, Pearle Mohale.

Even after you build and create the platform and add the perfect sales team, you need the world to see it, and as always our marketing team Pulling Power Media, headed up by the super motivational and inspirational leader of Kyle Puller and supported by Sherlic White, Mark Woolfrey, Liam Summers, Monique Golan, Amber Oppel and Lounette Loubser have done an amazing job so far in spreading the word and getting this platform to the four corners of the world.

While all of this was happening, we obviously needed and wanted to keep the doors open to our everyday business and that wouldn’t have been possible without our hard working team: Tracey Killengray, Andy Cooke, Mike Hibberd, Harry Markos, Rune Eikeland.

All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support, assistance and guidance of our Group, headed by Chairman Niall Carroll, and our sister companies, headed by Dany de Barros, Jason English, Joseph Zinyana, Donal Molloy.

I could spend hours listing more people that have helped in this journey, but the purpose of this BLOG was to highlight leadership, and what solid leaders can do when they come together and lead fantastic teams. In this case, our CTO Wayne Strydom and Head of Strategy and Sales Tamlynne Wilton Gurney who deserve a special mention.

The journey for Virtuworx, powered by The Virtulab is only just beginning, but what a journey it’s going to be, have you logged onto the platform yet?
