The Virtulab was approached by a South African train station operator to create a training video for technicians that would guide them through the multiple steps required to manually switch circuit breakers and activate backup power during a power outage. The goal of the project was to provide a comprehensive, accurate, and engaging visual aid to reinforce the technicians’ knowledge and eliminate the need for on-site training at different substation locations.
Our team at The Virtulab began by conducting a site visit to the underground tunnels where the substations were located, taking photographs and measurements of the equipment, breakers, and switches. Using these reference photos, we created detailed 3D models and environments that accurately represented the actual substations.
We then collaborated with subject matter experts to discuss the steps and procedures involved in the switching process, ensuring that the training video would be both accurate and informative. The animation was developed using state-of-the-art animation software, incorporating the 3D models, environments, and expert knowledge to create a visually engaging and informative training video.
The Virtulab’s training video proved to be an effective tool for reinforcing the technicians’ knowledge of the circuit breaker switching process and activating backup power during power outages. As a result, technicians no longer needed to travel to different substation locations for training, saving both time and resources for the train station operator.
The video facilitated a better understanding of the procedures and steps involved, helping technicians perform their tasks more efficiently and confidently. It also ensured that the technicians were well-equipped to handle power outages and maintain the continuity of train station operations.
“The Virtulab’s training video has been invaluable in enhancing our technicians’ understanding of the complex switching process during power outages. Their meticulous approach to capturing the details of our equipment and substations, coupled with their collaboration with subject matter experts, resulted in an informative and engaging training tool. We’ve seen significant improvements in our technicians’ performance and a reduction in the need for on-site training, which has led to cost savings and increased efficiency for our organisation.”South African train station operator
The team at Virtulabs get it. Rather than build another “pseudo 3D” virtual event platform, they’ve created a genuinely engaging platform that event organisers like me are proud to share with our clients. The level of customisation and robustness of Virtuworx has allowed me to be as creative as I want in my event proposals, and has helped me grow my business. I cannot wait to see what the team comes up with next.
